Proposed IT Act Amendments PDF Print E-mail
The proposed amendments to the Information Technology Act are under criticism from various sections of the society being referred to as sham to protect the Company Executives like Bazee.com CEO. Though NASSCOM's vice-president Mr Sunil Mehta, on Saturday said "We are reasonably satisfied with the proposed amendments."

The new inserted Section 80A tends to provide powers to Controller and adjudicator for compounding of offences, even if the prosecution is before the court. And more surprizingly, such composition does not even require permission of the court and places powers in the hands of few bureaucrats.

Which means the accused can escape conviction under this composition process, as the authorities given these powers can manipulate the things being placed at higher level than judiciary. And with such protection being provided under the amended Act, can result in more violations only.

Ofcourse, there are more surprizes within the amednments. The copy of the proposed amendments can be downloaded from http://www.mit.gov.in/itact2000. Against which views and suggestions can be sent to Department of Informatipon technology by 19th Septemeber 2005.
