Google has dropped use of GMail for its Email
service in U.K. and started using 'Google Mail' instead, after it was
pressurized by London-based financial company 'Independent
International Investment Research' (IIIR) since Google launched it's
email service in April 2004. IIIR have been using the said name for more than three years now.
IIIR has various TradeMark applications
pending for registeration of 'GMail' for its analytics software in
Europe & U.S. and is expecting Google to drop it's 'GMAIL' Trademark, all
over the world. It is estimated that trademark 'GMAIL' is worth $59.8 million. But Google
has its own story to say - they allege IIIR is in it for a exorbitant sum of money. |
