Romanian couple have been sentenced for putting
non-existing goods for sale at Ebay, the World's # 1 auction site to
over 3,000 people around the world on charges of deception and money
laundering.Goods sold included cars, antiques and concert tickets, making themselves over £250,000.
Fraud Sellers at auctions sites like EBay is not
uncommon and it is referred more as a Seller's Paradise... as low
standard items are put up for sale at high rates. Also software CDs are
sold in violation of Copyrights, without abtaining any licence or
necessary permission from the Companies like Norton, Microsoft. Last
year, even GMail accounts were put up for sale for Rs 100/- in total
violation of GMail policy.
Buyers more often fell prey to the seller's tactics due to the virtual
nature of the transaction and the various claims made by sellers as to
the quality, nature, use, etc of goods. And the money is to be
transferred before the items is dispatched to you. So it is necessary
to identify seller's reputation before transferring money. Though to
some extent, the user rating at Ebay is very helpful but still it is
advisable to be more careful while purchasing, specially expensvie
items. And deter buying softwares at Ebay.
