Celebrities name have always been the first target for Domain Squatters. But with the development in Cyber Laws, Cyber-Squatters who think of making quick money through such Domain names is now a distant dream. Recently, Will Smith, the Hollywood Star, won the Domain name "willsmith.tv" back from Barney Rubble of Vancouver. It was alleged by Smith that latter was using the said Domain name to advertise objectionable products and services. The forum ruled willsmith.tv was "confusingly similar" to the Will Smith trademark registered by the "Men in Black Star" with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in February 2002.

In July, Sushmita Sen had sued Canadian Domain Squatter for Domain name "www.sushmitasen.com". Similar is the case many more Domains registered with the intent of selling them back to the Celebrities. Even in the above Will Smith matter, Rubble tried to sell the said Domain name back to Mr Will Smith.

Update Dated: 31 Dec 2005
In another Domain Dispute the famous US rock band 'Pearl Jam' won the Domain Name 'www.pearljams.com', that was used by Vertical Axis Inc. to sell variety of goods. It was held that the said Domain Name was confusingly similar to the Band's trademark registered in 1995.
