On Bush's visit last week, India and US have signed an agreement under which the two will help each other protect their growing electronic transactions and critical infrastructure from cyber crime and terrorist threats. “The two sides recognised the importance of capacity building in cyber security and greater cooperation to secure their growing electronic interdependencies, including to protect electronic transactions and critical infrastructure from cybercrime, terrorism and other malicious threats,” the Indo-US joint statement said.
As part of the deal, Confederation of Indian Industry and its US counterpart will set up an India Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (ISAC) and India Anti-Bot Alliance, to check hacking.
The India-US Cyber Security Forum (IUSCSF) will shortly sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) formalising the roadmap for co-operation on information security issues. The MoU, expected to be signed in the next few months, will formalise the
contours of co-operation on various issues, including exchange of technical
documentation, information security audit tools and cyber forensic trading
between the two countries, said Arvind Gupta, joint secretary, National Security
Council Secretariat (NSCS). |
