Cyber Crime: Skimming PDF Print E-mail
Chennai Cyber Crime Police arrested four persons last week, who formed part of a UK-based gang, for withdrawing money from ATMs through the use of forged credit cards, whose data was stolen through the Cyber Crime of Skimming. They had cheated people of over 20 lakhs rupees three days prior to their arrest. And police recovered 160 fake credit cards from their possession.

"Skimming: Fake card entry slots are used by criminals who perpetuate this crime. The information on the card is recorded on a device hidden in the card entry slot." In it the criminal use a small machine called a skimmer that reads the data on the magnetic strip of the card and clones it.

It is an international crime, it has just recently been reported in India, so next time you use your Debit/Credit Card at an ATM.... need to be little more careful !!!
