According to a report commissioned by the cyber cell of the Delhi Police,  there was a whopping 255 percent increase in the number of complaints related to cyber crimes last year over the previous year. The cell received 206 complaints last year against only 58 in 2005. It was constituted in 2000 to fight the rising incidence of cyber crimes. A total of 17 cases related to hacking, obscenity, e-commerce fraud (online share trading, credit card fraud), Internet-related (copyright violation and misrepresentation on the Internet) crimes were registered last year.
