Cyber Crime Statistics reveal that Women are the victims in majority of the case. Last month, 35 women lodged complaints with Kolkata cyber crime cell regarding fake profiles put up on various social networking websites. The head of the cyber crime cell says "Most of the complainants are members of Orkut. The impersonators used the photographs on the real profile to create a fake one. Fake profiles were also put up on other online social networks." Orkut has been facing lot of heat off late, even earlier in the week, Shiv Sainiks attacked Mumbai Cyber Cafes and damaged property to protest against Orkut.
