Internet users using unsecured WiFi connections are the next vicitims after Cyber Cafe owners, whose connections have  been found to be used by Terrorists Outfits claiming responsiblity for various blasts in the country. In view of such threats, TRAI has issued various instructions to the ISPs to be followed by WiFi users to make sure there is connection is fully secured and there is no possibility of mis-use.

Internet users using unsecured WiFi connections are the next vicitims after Cyber Cafe owners, whose connections have  been found to be used by Terrorists Outfits claiming responsiblity for various blasts in the country. In view of such threats, TRAI has issued various instructions to the ISPs to be followed by WiFi users to make sure there is connection is fully secured and there is no possibility of mis-use.
 
This also implies using unsecured WiFi in future may become an offence and penalty may be imposed after necessary amendments are made under Information Technology Act, 2000. The various measures that can make it possible includes, MAC filtering, so that access can be made through only certain MAC addresses or by enabling Network Authentication, so that access cannot be made to a Network accept through a user/password.
 
Various seminars have also been organized in various states to educate users and secure WiFi networks. In short, from now on a duty has been cast upon the Internet Service Providers to make sure that customers have various security features enabled before the connection is enabled.
